Guisella
Hi, my name is Guisella and Kwantlen Polytechnic University changed my life! I started to study the ESL program in 2005 beginning at the foundation level. I went through all the English levels in the ESL program to improve my English skills. While improving my English skills, I enrolled in the accounting diploma program in 2006. I finished my accounting diploma program in August 2008 and I found a job as Junior Accountant one month later, September 2008. Isn't that amazing! Do yourself a favor and choose Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Mike
My name is Mike. I have studied in the ELST program at Kwantlen for several months. What I have to say is that the program grants students great opportunities to improve their English in a very efficient way, both in academic and colloquial English. By studying in different levels, students gradually build up and enhance their own English skills.
About two months before I attended the program I could barely speak a word, not only because of my poor English skills but mostly because of a lack of confidence. The instructors taught me important and practical use of English, and also encouraged me to talk freely by using what I learned. The most important things I gained from instructors is the English study skills. Thus, I strongly recommend eager English learners to try the ESL program in Kwantlen.
I want to thank all my ESL teachers who had offered me great help in learning English. Without them, I can't even imagine achieving such progress though it's still a long way to go.

Ying Zhang
My name is Ying Zhang, I am currently a first-year masters student specializing in Human Computer Interaction at UBC.
When I just came here, I could barely imagine that I could have made it this far at one of the world's top universities. Thanks to Kwantlen, I am prepared for the continuation of my university education at UBC.
I started my Canadian schooling experience at Kwantlen with ESL courses, and under the excellent guidance of my first ESL teacher, my reading, writing, listening, and speaking improved quickly. After the ESL courses, I moved onto college level English and first year university transfer courses.
With the help and support of kind and patient lab instructors, lecture professors, and my classmates, I steadily passed through all first year courses at Kwantlen, including chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science in 20 months.
The three years at Kwantlen paid off when I knew that University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and University of Victoria accepted me unconditionally at the same time.
Thanks Kwantlen!

Kim
Taking ELST courses at Kwantlen was the greatest experience for me. Dedicated instructors and outstanding teaching methods have been an inspiration to me and have helped me to not only improve academic English skill but also understand Canadian culture. If somebody wants to pursue studies with an academic goal in view, I will definitely recommend the program.
Now, I'm really enjoying taking UT courses and receiving good marks in the courses, and I believe it is possible by virtue of taking the ELST courses and understanding Canadian culture.

When I first came to Canada, everything seemed new to me - the language, culture, and way of life. However, I began to realize that here in North America, I have to integrate into the cultural circle; the best way to do so was learning the language. I was admitted to EASL 0064. During the first few weeks of the semester, I was frustrated with my writing, because it took me hours to write even a single paragraph; I was also speechless both in class and outside. However, at the end of the semester, having the best teacher in the world, I became aware of common ESL language problems, such as subject-verb agreement, word choice, and preposition use.
After taking ESL courses, I lost much of my fear of writing, and I decided to take undergraduate- level courses. I became very fond of writing and I was able to handle several papers all at once. For example, one semester, I had three courses that required a total of three papers, each of which were six to ten pages long, and I did it!
Now I'm an A+ student in psychology with a GPA of 4.06. Soon I'll be graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Psychology. With the support and encouragement from my instructors, I plan to go to grad school to focus my studies in clinical psychology.
I owe all these accomplishments to my ESL teachers, and my deepest appreciation goes to the first ESL teacher, whose excellent encouragement, feedback and lessons strengthened my motivation to continue my education. I am also indebted to the staff of the ESL department as a whole, who generously contributed their time to students, answering so many questions, and offering students the best quality of teaching.
