Q:

What are the entrance requirements for the Foundations in Design program?

A:

In addition to Kwantlen's general admission requirements, students must also,

  • Submit transcripts of secondary and/or post-secondary education including Art, Design and Academic courses (Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) of design-related experience is available).
  • Submit a portfolio. Your portfolio should reflect your creative interests.
  • You must also include a written statement.

For more information regarding portfolio and written statement, please refer to the Foundations in Design program Entrance Requirements. The entrance requirements apply to both part-time and full-time students.

When do I apply?

A:

You can apply to the program as of November 1st. Portfolio reviews are scheduled in April. We encourage you to apply early as program access and assigned registration dates and times are determined by the date of application.


Q:

If I'm a full-time student, how long will it take me to complete the program?

A:

The program will take one complete year, from September to April.


Q:

Where is the program offered?

A:

The program is currently only available on the Richmond campus.


Q:

Upon graduation, what will I do?

A:

Most program graduates go on to attain diploma/degrees in more specialized design programs at Kwantlen, Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Langara College, Capilano University, ACAD, OCAD, Ryerson, etc.


Q:

How do I find out when FIND courses are scheduled?

A:

FIND courses are scheduled Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm. The timetables and timetable archives can be accessed through kwantlen.ca/registration/timetables.html


Q:

I am enrolled in another program, but interested in design. Can I take Foundations in Design courses?

A:

Yes, a number of FIND courses are university designated breadth courses, and thus open to Kwantlen students based on seat availability. These include:
