INTERNATIONAL CREDENTIAL EVALUATION OFFICER - Competition Number 12-08A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University invites applications for a temporary full-time International Credential Evaluation Officer on our Surrey campus. The International Credential Evaluation Officer is responsible for evaluating the authenticity of both foreign and domestic transcripts for transfer credit in accordance with established policy and articulation agreements. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of the Transfer Articulation Module in Banner Student and the resource library of reference materials for the processing of transfer credit.

Minimum qualifications include a minimum of two-years of post secondary education supplemented by a 2-3 years experience in a post secondary Office of the Registrar environment, including experience evaluating authenticity of domestic and international transcripts. Applicants must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and database software such as Microsoft Access and have the ability to accurately type a minimum of 40wpm. Strong analytical, problem-solving and needs analysis skills are required in this role. Proven ability to communicate courteously and effectively with a diverse range of people in English, both in writing and verbally, is also essential. The ability to communicate in a second language such as Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean or Arabic is desirable.

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR - Competition Number 12-37R
 
Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Facilities department is currently accepting applications for a full time Maintenance Coordinator to start as soon as possible.  The successful applicant will be required to utilize a broad knowledge of multi-trade disciplines, analyze issues relating to building automation systems, HVAC systems, building systems and determine appropriate solutions as well as develop project plans, specifications and budgets and coordinate and implement projects.  This position requires travel between all four of Kwantlen’s campuses, Richmond, Surrey, Cloverdale and Langley.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a diploma in Technology, Business Administration or equivalent qualifications and experience plus several years’ experience working with building automation systems, HVAC equipment, and building systems, arranging and monitoring contracted work, and ensuring work is completed as specified.

STUDENT RECRUITMENT COORDINATOR – Competition Number 12-50A

About the position


As a Student Recruitment Coordinator, you will use your dynamic public speaking skills to present information about Kwantlen Polytechnic University to a wide variety of audiences for the purpose of identifying and recruiting prospective students both locally and internationally. Your experience and knowledge of post-secondary education will be used to advise prospective students and present options to meet their education and/or career goals.


In this role, you will develop and build relationships with individuals and groups, including secondary school students, parents, counselors, career advisors, school district personnel, government officials, businesses and community agencies. The student recruitment coordinator is responsible to liaise and advise international recruitment agents on marketing opportunities and policies and procedures of Kwantlen. You will also travel both locally and overseas to provide information, advice, and guidance regarding student career goals, and access to Kwantlen’s programs.


This position reports to the Manager, Student Recruitment, and is responsible for organizing and conducting community visits, career fairs, tradeshows and outreach events; as well as coordinate administrator, faculty or staff presentations.  Other duties may include: compiling documentation, translation, inquiry responses, enrollment management, online interactive communications, and peer training support.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably from an accredited Canadian public post-secondary institution. This position requires that the successful candidate have a minimum of two years professional public speaking experience. Excellent communication, customer service and public relations experience is a must. The successful candidate must be able to fluently speak and write English and be proficient in a second language. Preference will be given to candidates who are proficient in Mandarin or Arabic dialect. Up-to-date knowledge of the secondary school systems within Canada and overseas, Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s course programs and offerings; knowledge of education and employment trends, and an ability to represent the university with discretion and diplomacy is essential. An ability to adapt and be flexible in a constantly changing work environment is crucial. The successful candidate must be able to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility and work independently and establish own priorities and meet deadlines.  In addition, preference is given to a candidate that has overseas work experience in a cross-cultural environment.  A valid BC Driver’s license, as well as has access to a vehicle for work purposes, and the ability to travel overseas is also required. Although the position is primarily based at Kwantlen’s Surrey Campus, the successful candidate will be required to travel to and service Kwantlen’s other campuses as well.

ACCOUNTING ANALYST – Competition Number  12-48A

Commencing immediately Kwantlen Polytechnic University requires a regular full-time Accounting Analyst for a term of approximately one year in our Finance department located in Langley, BC.  The primary function of this position is to provide analysis, reporting, guidance, and support to the Kwantlen Polytechnic University community on financial information relating to Restricted and Revenue Generating Funds.

Minimum requirements include completion of the third (3rd) level of the CGA/CMA program at a recognized institution plus three years related experience, preferably in the public sector, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated working knowledge of integrated accounting systems; a demonstrated knowledge of common PC applications software such as spreadsheet, database and word processing; and a demonstrated ability to communicate courteously and effectively in English both verbally and in writing.  The candidate must also have demonstrated ability to exercise judgment to work and complete assignments with minimal supervision.  The salary range for this position is $25.55-$28.58/hour or $1,788.50-$2,000.60 bi-weekly.

The Office of International Students & Scholars at Kwantlen Polytechnic University has an immediate opening for an energetic and organized individual to provide reception and administrative functions in our fast-paced reception area. As a first point of contact for the Office of International Students & Scholars, a customer focused approach and the ability to effectively triage requests is essential. In this role, you will also provide administrative support and maintain appointment schedules for various staff within the department.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant for the Office of the Dean for the School of Business. This is a term position from June 18, 2012 until approximately August 2013 . 

The successful candidate will be responsible for working within a challenging, fast-paced environment performing administrative functions in support of the Dean and departmental Chairs.  They will be able to set priorities, work on multiple projects, have strong budget management and administrative skills, while coordinating communications throughout the department.  These individuals must be able to work with independence, initiative, and discretion and have the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty.  The successful applicant must possess a good working knowledge of routine office procedures including the ability to take and transcribe minutes, and  have the ability to type 50 wpm accurately.  Demonstrated skills MS Word, MS Excel are required, MS Access and website maintenance are an asset.

FACILITIES SUPPORT GENERALIST – ON-CALL – Competition Number 12-52A

The Facilities Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is recruiting for a skilled, energetic and self-motivated Facilities Support Generalist to provide on-call or casual coverage for our Surrey,  Langley, Richmond and Cloverdale campuses.  The primary responsibilities of the position are to provide a variety of Facilities support services including maintaining buildings; building systems and supply levels; perform minor repairs to buildings, building systems and furniture; to provide first aid and security; and to perform shipping and receiving functions.


The successful candidate will have:
• Occupational First Aid Level 2.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong verbal and written English skills.
• Ability to work independently with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to interact within a diverse educational community including students, faculty, employees and the general public.
• Demonstrated competency using a variety of hand tools.
• Ability to do heavy physical work.
• Experience handling security related incidents.
• Familiarly with the methods, practices, tools, used in electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical trades.
• Familiarity with building systems including, life safety and building management.
• Experience with computer programs and applications within a windows environment and building management systems would be as asset.
• Experience dealing with external companies, including understanding the role and responsibilities of contractors would be an asset.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, Faculty of Arts – Competition Number 12-54A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated and organized individual for a 13 month contract Administrative Assistant position supporting the Faculty of Arts. This position provides opportunity to be challenged with a variety of responsibilities in an academic environment. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the position will be responsible for providing administrative support for the Office of the Dean, working closely with the Chairs of the Journalism, Communications and Creative Writing Departments.

Qualified candidates will have completed a four-year baccalaureate degree from a publically accredited post-secondary institution and five years recent related experience that demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility and supervisory experience. Work experience in a post-secondary environment or in a highly complex administrative environment is an asset as is experience supporting and maintaining a computer lab.

This role requires superior accuracy and attention to detail abilities particularly in editing documents and record-keeping. Exceptional time-management and organizational skills are also required to coordinate projects and meet multiple overlapping deadlines with frequent interruptions and changing demands. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, are essential, as well as work experience to demonstrate the ability to patiently and effectively deal with a diverse range of people in a pleasant and professional manner. Proven ability to handle confidential matters and materials with tact and discretion, work independently under minimal supervision, and adapt quickly to new technologies and ongoing organizational transitions is also required. Minimum required typing speed is 50 wpm and a working knowledge of English is mandatory. Experience with financial budgets is an asset.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of university lab-based curriculum and deliver lab instruction to students.

Successful candidates will be expected to be able to commute to any of the four Kwantlen campuses, and be available for occasional evening shifts. Starting salary is approximately $45,200.
