Advisory Committee
The advisory committee is a group of community members who have a vested interest in the EPT program. Members on the committee come from a variety of environmental areas including public and private sector companies. The Advisory Committee is valuable because they ensure that graduates are suitably trained, properly educated and that program content is relevant to the environmental field. They provide advice concerning program objectives, entrance requirements, curriculum content and other relevant components of the program. They also assist in identifying suitable work placements for co-op and graduate students, and notify the program of any changes in the labour market.
The 2008 EPT Advisory Committees Members are:
Peter Borgmann, Co-Chair, EPT94, B.Sc., CCEP., is the Environmental Co-ordinator for Coast Mountain Bus Company. He is responsible for the creation and development of transit's environmental program. Waste management, contaminated site work, emergency response, wastewater treatment and environmental management systems are just part of his duties. He is a former graduate of the program.
Steve Parker, Co-Chair, EPT93, Health, Safety & Environment Advisor and Senior Environmental Technician, Worley Parsons Komex. Steve has over 15 years of field experience and acts in senior capacity, mentoring and training new employees, and directing work on complex field sites. Steve transitioned into the HSE Advisors role in the Fall of 2007.

Amber Daniels, EPT07, B.Sc., CEPIT, Environmental Scientist, Golder Associates Limited. Ms. Daniels is working in the phases of remediation and monitoring of contaminated sites, including the on-going remediation of complex large-scale sites throughout British Columbia. She is also extensively involved in projects with all levels of government and First Nations.
Margot Daykin, BSc., M.R.M, is the Assistant Manager of Environmental Programs for the City of Richmond. In this capacity, Margot works with all City departments to integrate environmental considerations into City plans, policies and programs; reduce the environmental impact of City operations and services; and, encourage movement towards environmental sustainable practices for the Richmond community and the region. Specific responsibilities include tracking changes in federal and provincial environmental legislation, conducting environmental reviews, coordinating environmental activities across City departments, responding to environmental concerns, and providing strategic direction. Prior to working for the City, Margot worked for ten years as an environmental consultant in the fields of environmental policy development, environmental impact assessment, ecotoxicology and watershed restoration. Margot was also involved with creation of environmental educational curriculum for programs delivered in SE. Asia. Margot obtained her undergraduate science degree at the University of British Columbia and her Master's in Resource and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University.
Amy Fournier, EPT00, B.Sc, Community Climate Change Outreach Coordinator, City of Vancouver Sustainability Group. Amy is responsible for coordinating and implementing the community engagement aspect of the City of Vancouver's climate change strategy, which includes developing and implementing ongoing partnerships with the federal, provincial and regional governments, local community organizations, businesses and institutions on climate change campaigns and public education. She also develops programs to help reduce individual residents' consumption of energy and fossil fuels and is involved in corporate sustainability efforts at the City of Vancouver. Previously she was an Environmental Technician at the Vancouver Landfill, responsible for the operation of the landfill gas collection and conditioning system. Prior to that Amy spent six months working in Honduras with rural youth as part of a community watershed stewardship project with the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture. She also worked with the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, where she researched and developed their outreach materials on various topics relating to of the social, health and environmental impacts of militarism and conflict.
Elizabeth Graca, EPT98, Enforcement and Compliance Officer, Enforcement and Emergencies Division, Environment Canada.
Jennifer Guay, EPT03, Source Water Protection Specialist, BC Ministry of the Environment. She is the regional source water protection expert, specializing in watershed management, land use impacts and resource planning as they pertain to drinking water. The duties associated with this position are diverse and include participating in the development of regional-scale land and resource use plans as well as designing and implementing water monitoring programs. Jen originally started in this position as a co-op student.
Art Hildebrand, Project Manager, Pottinger Gaherty
Chris McCue, EPT94, President of McCue Environmental Contracting, has 12 years experience in the design, construction and operation of contaminated site remediation technologies, first as a consultant and now as a specialized remediation contractor. He started McCue Environmental Contracting (McEC) in June 2000 and has provided services at oil refining, oil terminal, bulk fuel storage, fuel retail, chemical manufacturing, dry cleaning, highways, landfill, mine, pipeline and spill sites in Canada and the US. Chris's designs have been featured at Remediation Technologies Symposiums in 2005 and 2007 in Banff, Alberta and in APEGBC's Innovation Magazine. In July 2007, Chris launched McEC's Water Clarification Division and is now providing sediment removal services to the construction and mining industries. Krista Meneghetti, EPT03, Senior Environmental Technologist, Golder Associates Limited. Ms. Meneghetti has 5 years experience in field assessment and remediation of contaminated sites in British Columbia. Her responsibilities include conducting and coordinating field work for preliminary site investigations (PSI Stage 1 and 2), detailed site investigations (DSI) and site remediation programs at former service stations, bulk and chemical plants, pulp mills, landfills, harbours, and former industrial and commercial properties. She has been given responsibility for large scale remediation projects such as the Pacific Place remediation project and has been involved with this project for over 5 year. She has also been responsible for helping with the aquatic and terrestrial components of environmental impact assessments.
Amy Moizumi, EPT07, Environmental Specialist, Environment Services, Public Works and Government Services CanadaDawn Ross, EPT00, Ashcroft Ranch Project Coordinator, Engineering and construction Department, Metro Vancouver. As a project coordinator, Dawn develops projects and management strategies that incorporate Metro Vancouver's vision of environmental stewardship and sustainability into the long-term economic viability and agricultural integrity of the Ashcroft Ranch. The Ashcroft Ranch is a 10,500 acre cattle ranch located in the southern interior of BC.
Rick Saunier, EPT97, Environmental Technician, Parks and Environmental, City of Port Moody, provides technical support and conducts field work for assisting the Manager of Parks & Environmental Division in the implementation of environmental programs. He investigates environmental complaints and problems, interprets and enforces bylaws and environmental policies, and provides information on relevant matters to the public. He assists other City Departments with related work to ensure that it meets with approval from Senior Government agencies.
Megan Shannon Martin, EPT02, AScT, Environmental Specialist, Public Works and Government Services Canada, Environmental Services. Ms. Martin is the Co-Regional Contaminated Sites Management Program Coordinator and maintains the PWGSC Pacific Region Federal Contaminated Sites Inventory relating to status of contaminated site assessment and remediation projects. She also holds the role of Hazardous Material Management Regional Coordinator and works with facility managers throughout the region while liaising with other regional leads around the country to maintain sound hazmat management throughout the PWGSC portfolio. Ms. Martin works with multi-disciplinary project teams to manage contaminated sites assessment, remediation and hazardous material related projects for both PWGSC and other federal departments within British Columbia and the Yukon.
Gregory P. Thomas, Ph.D. (Cand.), MAIC, R.P.Bio, is president and senior scientist with G3 Consulting Ltd. His tasks include extensive management in all aspects of impact assessments, monitoring, auditing and applied scientific research for freshwater, marine and terrestrial studies and numerous ecological risk assessment studies and other environmental impact and risk-based assessments. He has managed ecological and human health risk assessments, site assessments and audits, municipal discharges, aquaculture, CEAA assessments and project applications (including land governance, First Nations, etc.), contaminated site evaluations, mining, forestry, pulp and paper, foreshore and HADD audits and investigations and other related environmental assessment, monitoring and training programs in both coastal marine and freshwater environments. He has published over 120 scientific papers and reports and is an active member of a number of professional associations.
